In First Grade

  • In first grade, students identified two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids as well as classified and sorted regular and irregular two-dimensional shapes based on attributes. Students also created two-dimensional figures and shapes by joining figures.

In Second Grade

  • Students in second grade classify and sort three-dimensional solids and polygons as well as create two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional shapes. Students also decompose two-dimensional shapes.

In Third Grade

  • In third grade, students will use attributes to recognize rhombuses, parallelograms, trapezoids, rectangles, and squares as example of quadrilaterals, and classify and sort two-and three-dimensional figures based on their attributes. These figures include cones, cylinders, spheres, triangle prisms, rectangular prisms, and cubes.
Students will also decompose composite figures into non-overlapping rectangles to determine the area of the original figure, decompose two congruent two-dimensional figures into parts with equal areas, and determine the area of rectangles using the length of the sides.
